The Good:- Dad finally got the "dermal shots" for his bulging disc/pinched nerve.
- Dad is "doing well" (according to Mom).
- Mom & Dad are bringing back McDonald's.
- I like my Intro to Sociology class.
- It's Thursday.
- I have a job interview on September 2.
- My doctor prescribed some hefty antibiotics (because I've had so many upper respiratory/sinus infections over the course of my life that normal antibiotics don't work).
- I'm loving novel version of The DaVinci Code way more than the movie (which, despite Tom Hanks not-so-attractive presence, I happen to love).
The Bad:- I have an upper respiratory infection.
- Today is an "ozone day."
- I'm sneezing like crazy.
- And stuffy.
- And hungry.
- (And whiney.)
The Ugly:- Actually, there is no ugly (unless you count a serious case of bed-head). I just couldn't resist.

Some of my room and this awesome corset, which I drooled over a few entries ago. My room isn't completely finished setting up. I usually put pictures on my corkboard as time goes by. I have a high bed this year, which gives me more space to put my luggage and boxes/containers and shit, but I need the chair (notice my chair can go under it) to get up and down! It's hard getting up and down when I'm exhausted.)
I also put this in the LJ scrapbook because they're huge pictures and would take ages to load if I pulled it from Photobucket. You can click on them to see a larger view of them. :D

Edit: I tried cross-posting this using Semagic, but it says I have the wrong password for my IJ account, which I don't, when I try logging into my IJ account separately. Anybody have ideas how to solve this? It worked back on my parents' laptop so I've no idea what I've done differently!
I have my laptop finally! Here it is (it's not the old Lenovo I once so proudly said was my new baby). Guess what I called my laptop??? SANDMAN That's right!!!
It's awesome, though the shiny keys makes me a little paranoid (for now at least) about smudgy fingerpints. :P
Classes began Tuesday, though the professor cancelled it (just that one day), so officially my first day of classes was today.
Uhm, can we say tired, please? Classes started at 8am for me today, and ended at 3:50pm (though not all the way through. Now we have a "common hour" where nobody has classes and the cafeteria and deli get overstuffed with people during lunch.) The new Center for the Sciences is gorgeous, though a little inconvenient they have one set of female bathroom in one corner per floor instead of two.
I liked my Intro to Philosophy professor a lot - she seems really nice and helpful and cheerful and awesome. Biometrics is thankfully a smaller class - the Mac monitors are freaking huge. I can't see over them when sitting! - which gives me a little more confidence. The other three classes have 20+ students, one has 26, I believe. >_<
Unfortunately a lot of my books haven't arrived yet. It was my decision to decide to take the cheaper route of ordering online, though longer and more inconvenient, than buying expensively from the bookstore. This is bad because all of them have reading and worksheet stuff for Friday. :( What I'm doing is begging and borrowing from classmates until they come in. I feel like such a douche and moocher for that!
Thank you so much to those who have replied to my last few entries. :D You guys are awesome. Right now I'm anxious about this book/assignment situation (one class has 5 minutes quizzes every day based on the previous night's homework...) so that's not cool. I'm also trying to get more...autonomy, I suppose. I had great fun earlier hanging out with a friend for several hours. :D She was the first one to see my laptop, actually, and the boyfriend was the second. :) I have Internet!
I'm really sorry, though, to read that so many of the people on my friendslist are struggling. :( *HUGS HUGS HUGS* Sorry I've been incommunicado - I don't feel comfortable reading my friendslist in public computer labs or if I'm rushed for time. I prefer having my own time and place for it.
I'm hoping to break my laptop's DVD cherry sometime tonight. My old laptop could only play CD's so I had to use an external DVD player :P I also have Tori Amos's limited Comic Book Tattoo which gave me so much grief earlier. Turns out the comic book store vendor on Amazon I bought the extra copy from didn't even have it in stock. When I emailed them past the estimated arrival time, they played the old "it's lost in USPS system" which, according to their feedback, is a very common excuse for them. PFFFT.
I have pictures of my room and this awesome new corset I bought, but I will put them in a post after this, so those who avoid picture-posts can do so comfortably! :P You know who you are!!! |

Summary: After Reid goes off the rails in Texas, Morgan decides Reid needs a friend to support him through whatever he's going through. Several cases and "awesomely" bad sci-fi flicks later, they both realize "friendship" isn't exactly what they want...but sorting through the baggage that stands in the way of a closer relationship is more difficult than either of them expected. Starting immediately after "Elephant's Memory" and running beyond the end of "Lo-fi", this is a multi-chaptered, non-WIP fic.
Word count: this part, ~9,700; overall, ~130K
Spoilers: Entire series - specifically Profiler, Profiled, The Big Game/Revelations, Elephant's Memory, In Heat, Tabula Rasa, and Lo-Fi
Warnings: Overall: UST, references to past sexual abuse, drug use/references to past drug use

Today I got some confusing not-so-fun-mail as well as some really fun mail (2 books -- gifts from a friend!). One was on totems and one is based on a fairy tale and is called East (Based on East of the Sun, West of the Moon). I already read the totem book. I relate to the idea of having totems and here are three I relate to in different ways, rabbit being the more generalized one.

It's been an interesting process over the past few days, finding my writing muscles again after more than a year since I last wrote anything longer than the very occasional ficlet. I'd forgotten so much about my own personal writing process. I've found that I'm more productive in the evening than the daytime, and that I get more written after midnight than at any other time, which is exactly the way it used to be. More than once, I've really wished desperately that I could be a linear writer and have everything come out neatly and in order, but my brain just doesn't work that way and never has.
Tonight, though, tonight I'm being forcibly reminded of one other aspect of the way I write: I can never accurately estimate how long one of my stories is going to be. I think this one is finally drawing to a close now, after a detour I didn't see coming, and I can finally get back to the section I wrote days ago, which appears to be the end.
We shall see.
